The New York Giants appear to be in a full court press to secure an earlier draft pick.

Connor J. Hughes of SNY reported that New York is “actively trying to move up for a quarterback” but noted that a trade is not a guarantee.

The #Giants are actively trying to move up for a QB, I’m told. I’m just not sure they can pull it off.

If Odunze is gone I think the #NYJ will trade back. https://t.co/litrLe7AMG

The Giants have the No. 6 pick in the draft, and some trade partners could be the New England Patriots at No. 3, the Arizona Cardinals at No. 4 and the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 5.

A run on quarterbacks to begin the draft appears to be likely. The Chicago Bears, the Washington Commanders and the Patriots are all quarterback-needy teams and hold the top three picks. Meanwhile, a team like the Minnesota Vikings has some draft capital with the No. 11 and No. 23 picks in the first round.

This signals that Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and potentially J.J. McCarthy could all be off the board by the time the Giants select at No. 6, which could mean the franchise looks elsewhere at quarterback or selects another position of need.

A trade-up could guarantee one of the aforementioned signal-callers as the future quarterback of the Giants, but it would likely cost a solid haul in addition to the No. 6 pick. It appears that New York recognizes this and may be willing to make an offer to entice a team.

The Giants have Daniel Jones as the incumbent starting quarterback and he will be with the team in 2024 due to a dead cap hit of $69 million. However, the team is able to get out of the contract after the 2024 season.
