Wasserman assumed the CIO job on Feb. 1, according to a press release.

Wasserman’s new role will include overseeing more than 6,700 employees in the for-profit health system’s Information Technology Group (ITG) which provides IT services to HCA’s businesses.

Previously, Wasserman served as SVP and COO of ITG. His nearly 30-career at HCA included additional roles in ITG and, prior to 2017, he served as CIO of HCA’s revenue cycle management company Parallon.

Wasserman succeeds P. Martin Paslick, who is retiring. Paslick joined HCA’s ITG unit in 1985 and played a key part in transitioning the operator to the Cloud, according to the release.

The announcement comes a week after HCA announced longtime CFO Bill Rutherford would retire from his role. Rutherford will be succeeded by Mike Marks, the operator’s current SVP of finance, on May 1.

Also a week ago, HCA posted fourth quarter that beat Wall Street analysts’ expectations for income.
