The WNBA Finals have arrived on the heels of a long and history-making season for women’s basketball. The Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty will square off for the championship title in a best-of-five match-up. The New York Liberty are headed to the finals once again after defeating the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals. The Liberty previously fell to the Aces in the 2023 Finals, handing the Vegas team their second consecutive title. Now, the Liberty is attempting to score their first-ever championship title. To do so, they’ll have to get through the Minnesota Lynx, who have four titles under their belt but haven’t made it to the Finals since 2017.
At the helm of the two teams are Breanna Stewart (New York) and Napheesa Collier (Minnesota). Stewart won MVP last year, and Collier was named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024 season. While the pair might be rivals on the Finals court, they’re business partners and co-founders of Unrivaled, the new 3v3 women’s basketball league scheduled to start in January 2025. They also helped lead Team USA to its eighth consecutive gold medal at the summer Olympics.

What channel is Lynx vs. Liberty on?
Game 1 of the Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty Finals will air on ESPN in the US. The game is scheduled to tip off on Thursday, October 10, at 8 p.m. ET. WNBA Countdown coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ESPN will also host Game 3 and the contingent fourth and fifth games.
