King’s Cross and Liverpool Street are very close, along with a choice of two Underground stations within a five minute walk.
I worked and lived in London for 11 years in the ’80s, not far from here at the Tower Thistle Hotel adjacent to the iconic Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and St Katharine Docks on the River Thames. I travelled on the Tube mostly, so I never really got to explore this part of London. I can see now that was a mistake!

The original antique artefacts in the room are amazing, including modern versions of Marshall and Roberts radios.
The bathroom was spectacular: a full-sized bath and built-in rain shower. The bathroom taps and accessories were solid, well-designed precision stainless steel that functioned perfectly and with a satisfying click. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, with fluffy towels on heated towel rails and great water pressure. The soap, shampoo, and other amenities were generous and of high quality.
The 13 bedrooms at The Zetter are a visual delight. Each room is unique, with bold shades of heritage colours that pop against vivacious antique pieces. This isn’t your average hotel; it feels more like stepping into a private residence, each room telling its own story. The upper rooms offer enchanting views of London’s skyline, with glimpses of The Shard in the distance – a reminder of the city’s blend of ancient and modern.
When we arrived in the square, there was an open-air chess tournament taking place. It reminded me of something you’d see in large parks or in the movies.
The Zetter’s location is steeped in history. Just a short stroll away are museums that transport you back to the time of the Crusades, with exhibits showcasing the storied past of knights and armour. These adjacent museums are free to enter, making them an unmissable part of your visit.

We loved it! The comfortable sitting room is the perfect place to wind down and chill.
